Description

There is an undeniable beauty, a quiet dignity and a kind of era-gone-by melancholy about old pewter dishes. They are silent witnesses to customs that once enriched peoples' lives. Now silent and void of purpose, they enter a new relm of existence as objects of art. This composition is part of my grey-on-grey series, where sense of harmony and balance is achieved through restricted, monochromatic palette.

Beautifully rendered, Yvonne. Love the textures. You have captured the spirit of pewter in this painting. As a metalsmith I first worked with pewter, before working with silver. Such a wonderful alloy to work with and create a bowl from a flat piece of the material with special hammers. LF
