Work inspired by Cosimo's portrait of "Simonetta," this is an allegory of privilege. This half-portrait is designed in a shape of a letter "S" to indicate success, while various props allude to the way it was achieved.

Amazing allegory...it gives me the shivers in a way...made me think of house of cards that I'm watching now. Great work Yvonne !

Your rendering and title invite one to dissert. A thought came to my mind: "A mauvaise fortune on fait bon coeur"; meaning to me, the choice made is not hers, but she is obliged to perform. Voila! Great surrealism drawing! Very impressive artwork! L/F

Thank you Nicole, very much for visiting my page. I like what you said in French that bad fortune makes for a good heart (loosely translated), and meaning that we learn and grow as a result of our situation. I would also add that it is important how we give back to society. Is there an obligation once one is elevated?

This is a powerful and fascinating description of the privileged class...and the predatory nature of aristocracy...so much to see and think about in this drawing...I still have to find the letter "S"...excellent title and description!
Yvonne Wright replied:
Thank you very much Thomas. I did this drawing on a lithograph stone (based on my painting), which after printing is done on paper reverses the image, hence the letter S got flipped and is less clear : )
