In spite of the Pandemic, this work was exhibited digitally on a large HD screen at the Swiss Art Expo 2020, held at the SBB Event Hall in Zurich/Switzerland, where approximately 80,000 visitors could appreciate my work, among others, daily.
Work created during the first Global lockdown in spring 2020. It symbolically articulates my feelings about a world of darkening skies, forever changed by the global pandemic. Menacing clouds covering the face of the Moon indicate an Earth in distress; disquieted and motionless, as if a pause-button has activated a perpetual stillness. The main focus of the composition is the clock, with its multifaceted symbolism dressed in an architectural vignette. It alludes to institutions closed and communities in crisis. A white ceramic vase with blue flowers hints at the source of the pandemic, while the old fashioned spectacles precariously perched at the edge of the shelf symbolize our most vulnerable and hard hit population, the elderly. I am a multimedia artist with a Master of Art degree in art history, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and drawing. I have had a rewarding career in fine art, encompassing international awards and works in public and private collections. Currently, I own and operate a small art gallery/artist's studio in Jim Thorpe, PA dedicated primarily to showcasing my works. My art practice explores a variety of mediums, privileging acrylics on canvas or wood, which springs from my earlier interest in egg tempera. I am also proficient in printmaking techniques, but equipment access restrictions limited my output.
