Description
Detail of the Lobby at the New Barnes Foundation building in Philadelphia, opened in 2012. The original Barnes Foundation campus in Merion, Pennsylvania, is now a 12-acre arboretum open to the public for tours. The new facility in Philadelphia houses the collection that replicate the scale, proportion and configuration of the original Merion galleries. The New Barnes Foundation owns more than 2,500 objects, including 800 paintings, estimated to be worth about $25 billion.
I love the simplicity of forms and the freshness of monochromatic shades and earthy tones that were used throughout the museum building. Unfortunately, photographing the interior spaces was gravely limited, but understandably, for the security reasons.

Thank you Susan! The move of the Barnes collection to Philadelphia was controvercial but to most tourists a welcomed change. I visited the building right after it opened, it has lovely, modern feel to it.
